Swing Batter Batter

Caleb got a t-ball set for his birthday, back in June.
We spent most of the summer teaching him how to use a bat.
He had very little interest in learning.
Don't get me wrong, he loves his toy and demands it be set up almost every time we go out, but he just doesn't get the whole swing the bat thing.
Until we handed him the club that goes with his costume, that is.
He swings it like it is the ninth inning of the world series.
I can just see him taking out someone's knees while Trick or Treating tonight.
I better pack band aids

Beware... The World's Deadliest Chicken Nugget

I have not had a good day.
I took the trash out this morning.
As I jumped across the drive way bare foot, I stepped on something sharp.
It was cold so I ignored the pain until I bounded back into the house.
I look down only to find a piece of chicken nugget from yesterdays lunch wedged into my heel.
A chicken nugget!
It had apparently fallen out of one of the kids clothes and refrozen over night.
When my foot caught it this morning it made a nice little cut.
I can just see bags of chicken nuggets with
Warning: Hazzardous when frozen
written across the label.
The World's Deadlist Chicken Nugget put me in a bad mood.
To add insult to injury, Caleb got wild today.
I am pretty sure it is because he hasn't been sleeping well.
He was just trying to stay awake, but he was driving me up the wall!
When Adam got home, they went to the park to run off some energy.
It must have worked.
He sat down and watched "Toy Story" in it's entirety before heading to bed.
And finally
Today, my baby is 11 months old!
It just doesn't seem possible!
I remember being pregnant like it was just yesterday.
A year ago, I was having contractions on a regular basis.
To bad they were 5 minutes apart for the next 3 weeks...
You know, maybe today wasn't so bad afterall...

Finally!

Adam and I picked Halloween costumes last night.
I am not going to reveal our costumes until I post the pictures on Sunday... sorry!
I will post the kids pictures tommorrow!
Anyway...
Do you know how ridicuosly expensive costumes are?
The past two years we bought Calebs.
I got his super cheap last year because is had some flaws.
The year before, it was his first halloween so I didn't care how much money we spent :)
This year, I spent somewhere around $20 in material to make Caleb and Georgia Kate's.
Since we are in such a crunch, I decided to buy one and make one for myself and Adam.
I bought mine because it had a little more detail work.
They had the one Adam wanted to be, but it was $50!
Fifty dollars for a couple of seams?!?
Seriously?
The halloween store happened to be right next to the fabric store.
I ran in and got more than enough to make Adam's costume, and a couple of spools of lace to add a few embellishments to mine.
$18.26
Jackpot!
Is it weird that I am this excited?

Prayers

I would like to take a minute to ask everyone to pray for a couple of friends of ours.
First, Adam works with the sweetest man named Gary.
Gary's wife works at the pediatricians office I take the kids to!
He is having some pretty serious issues with his heart.
Gary and his wife Tracey
Secondly, a guy I knew from chruch, Chris,  has just been diagnosed with cancer.
He is only a year older than I am.
His wife (my age) is pregnant with their first child.
I pulled this photo off of her myspace account.
Please keep both of these gentlemen in your thoughts and prayers

Bon Bons and Oprah

Adam has come to realize I do much more than just sit around during the day.
He readily admits that being a stay at home dad is not for him and he would lose his mind.
With that said, this is what my living room looked like BEFORE nap time
Lets see, there is the car seat from Adam's truck, 3 blankets, the diaper basket void of all diapers, Caleb's truck bucket, pajama, tools, toys, the bottom of another basket, too many different cars to count, and pumpkin bread crumbs...
Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Uh Oh!

I was trying to get pictures for Georgia Kate's birthday party invitations today...
I took 116 pictures....
Six of them she was crying in...
Seven of them are the top of her head
Six of them caught Caleb in front of the camera
Eight of them caught her with her eyes closed
And one of them she sucked on her fingers
That leaves me with 88 pictures....
In most of those she is looking at me like I am an idiot...
I guess I'll try again another day :)

Behind the Mask

I knew as soon as I found out Georgia Kate was going to be a girl, what the kids were going to be for Halloween... Now, if finding outfits for Adam and myself were only so simple.
We have been invited to a costume party the day after Halloween.
I have known about this for a couple of weeks now, but couldn't get Adam to agree on anything...
So, now it is four days away and I've got NOTHING!
I really didn't want to buy our costumes, although it is looking like I am going to have to.
I want something unique...
Any suggestions?

Sew Nice!

I was going to wait to post this until it actually got here and I actually got to use it, but I am just too excited!
Mom and I have wanted an embroidery machine for some time now, and we found one on Ebay that was too good to pass up!
WooHoo!!!!!!!
Adam is going to come home and find everything in the house embroidered!

Commercial Interruption

I am quite curious if all men do this or if it is only in my household.
Apparently, the Hillshire Farm people hit the nail on the head with this commercial.
If it comes on, Adam and Caleb both drop what they are doing to watch it.
Sometimes they even sing along :)
It is like they are drawn to the TV.
I must admit I am the same way with this commercial.
(It wouldn't let me embed it so if you click on it, it will take you to the youtube)
So are there any commercials you just can't get enough of?

Silly Sunday!

We went to look at a some lake property with Dad today.
The property is gorgeous, although it isn't exactly what they are looking for.
The house needed lots of updating but over all wasn't horrible.
Caleb would walk a little ways away from us and lay down.
He loved the endless yard :)
The real estate people had a little mix up so we spent quite a bit of time waiting in the car before we made it to the house.
We were about to lose our minds so Adam came up with this game to play...
And, who wouldn't have done this?

If the shoe fits...

wear them to bed!

He insisted on wearing them over his pajamas and slept in them all night!

When he came to our bed, the flashing lights scared me to death so we now hide the light up shoes at night :)

Tutu, too much fun!

Last night, Dad got to keep Gracie!
It was her Mommy's birthday!
Gracie, Caleb and Georgia Kate had lots of fun together :)
It doesn't look like it here, but Georgia Kate is just about the same size as Gracie.
She just happened to be a little closer to the camera.
When I got home, I got to work on this tutu!
It was so incredibly easy and is so stinking cute!
If anyone wants one, I'll make them if you supply the tulle!

Congratulations Dad and Bryant!

Bryant was on fall break this week and it just so happened Dad got a chance to go deep sea fishing in Florida. They left on Tuesday and got home last night.
From the look of the freezer, the caught tons!
Bryant caught the biggest Snapper and biggest Scamp of the day!
Dad with his Amberjack
Bryant and his scamp... posing with Ms. Destin
(Scamp is the fish, not the girl)
All the people on the ship
On the right hand side are my Uncle Doug, Bryant and Dad.

Fashion Flub Friday!

Caleb's new hat!
I think he was protecting himself from the threat of aliens :)
It isn't warm enough to run the air at night but it isn't quite cool enough to run the fireplace for long periods of time. So, we bundle the children up in case they wiggle out of their blankets at night. I can't keep socks on Georgia Kate so I had to start putting Caleb's old socks on her. They come up so high she can't pull them off and her toes stay warm!
I accidentally left Caleb's shoes at Mom and Dads today.
Adam ran to walmart for me and the shoes Caleb had were a little on the snug side.
So, Adam did what any one would do and bought these SUPER COOL spider man shoes with light up action on the heel and toe!
These beat out the Thomas the Train shoes because they weren't manly enough!

Baby Johnathan Brigham

Congratulations to Jeff, Angie, London and Josh!
Johnathan Brigham was born Friday.
He was a sweet 19 inches long and weighed a whopping 8lbs 10oz!
I don't have a picture of him at the moment but I am sure some will be here soon!

**********Update**********
I got a few of the details wrong in my previous post!
Mr. Johnathan Brigham was 7lbs 10oz.
The whole family!
London with her new brother
Josh with his new brother!

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow?

Adam has this thing about his hair.
If it gets long enough that you can actually get a hold of it, it is too long and must immediately be cut.
Every once in a while, he says he is going to grow it out.
It usually ends up cut within a week.
Yesterday, when he said he was thinking about letting it grow, I told him I was going to hold him to it.
Lets see how long he can let it grow before it drives him nuts!

Halloween Happenings...

My mother tortured me as a child.
She drug me to haunted houses that I had begged for weeks to go to and then when I chickened out she drug me through them, laughing all the way.
I will never forget walking through one that used to be in Cedar Bluff.
Everyone was instructed to put your hands on the shoulders of the person in front of you.
Mom's grip grew tighter as we walked past a woman laying in a casket.
A picture of her family hung over her head.
As we crossed in front of her, she jumped up and screamed,
"Where are my children!? Has anyone seen my children?!"
Without missing a beat, Mom slung me at the woman and said,
"I don't know where yours are, but you can have mine!"
I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
Since then, I have loved haunted houses.
On our third date, Adam and I went to Ripley's Haunted Adventure.
At the time I didn't know that Adam doesn't do haunted houses.
I actually drug him to quite a few before he told me he really hates them.
Now, I need a new Haunted House enthusiast.
This happens to be the last year of the Haunted Caves.
Anyone interested?
If not, poor Adam will be drug through it one last time :(

And, on a similar note, we are looking for somewhere to take the kids trick or treating.
We went to West Town last year and were very pleasantly surprised with the Halloween Fun.
We would like to be indoors, but will consider anything as long as we aren't walking in the street.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Amanda

My friend, Amanda, just moved to San Antonio for her husband's new job.
I wish her and her family all the best!
I tried to find pictures of us from high school, but I don't have a lot on the computer...
Amanda a couple of years ago.
Her little boy, Avery
I love this picture.
Georgia Kate is starring him down!
They had lots of fun together
So did Avery and Caleb!
Amanda now
Amanda and Mom
Avery was soooooo funny!
This video just cracks me up!

Mystery Fruit Part II

We cut open the mystery fruit.
Here is the inside....

We still have no idea what it is :(

Cherokee Football

Adam got to referee Cherokee's football game last night.
Jusitn, my cousin, is on the coaching staff there so I thought it would be a good chance to watch Adam and get to see everyone.
The kids were soooo good!
Georgia Kate didn't like her hat and coat a first
And Caleb refused to wear his hat
But once people started  playing she was fine
And a tray of nachos and some M&M's convinced Caleb to put his hat on
Jennifer and her new puppy, Tucker
Adam
Caleb still eating nachos
Georgia Kate spent most of the night sleeping
Every time the people would clap, Caleb would stop what he was doing, look at the field, clap and scream "Go Daddy!"
