Fruit Snacks and Sweet Memories

After we had spent several hours in the hot sun today, the kids were begging for fruti snacks.

I gave in and Caleb finished his before we even got back outside.

He brought me his package and asked what it said on the back.

"It says Caleb can only have one pack of fruit snacks," I said.

His face lit up.

"No! It says Caleb loves Mommy!"

"Okay. Caleb can have one more pack."

I just love him :)

Chicken Bars, Anyone?

Georgia Kate hasn't been feeling great lately.

In fact, both of them have croup and walking pneumonia.

Getting them to eat has been a real challenge, so tonight when Georgia Kate came running up screaming,

"I'm hungry! Hungry, Hungry, HUNGRY!"

I jumped at the chance to get food in her system.

"I want chicken bars!"

I looked at her, completely puzzled.

I've never heard of chicken bars before.

I tried to think of everything we had eaten recently that could possibly be considered chicken bars.

"Fish sticks? You want fish sticks? Are these them?" I said as I took them out of the freezer.

She jumped up and down emphatically.

"Chicken Bars!!!"

I love her :)

After the party, we were all exhausted so we headed home for a much needed nap.

Then, of course, it was time to play with all the toys!

The Toy Story Sprinkler is pretty awesome!

You can make it float like this or make it blast off... The kids (and Adam) had a blast with it!

Georgia Kate wasn't thrilled with all the blasting off... She just wanted to get wet... And with the heat index in the 100s I couldn't blame her!

Caleb took his first big spill off of his new bike.

He has spent months riding around the house on a tricycle and I guess he thought he had more room to make an important turn. He ended up riding right off the edge our our porch and down onto the driveway...

He wasn't hurt, but we all learned a lesson!

And helmets were put into action :)

When it was time to go inside, I found Caleb like this...

Because what four year old has time to get dressed when there is a whole house full of brand new toys????

Caleb Turns Four!!!!

Caleb just turned 4, so we celebrated with a dinosuar party.

Only problem is, dinosaur decor is in short supply.

So, I made due with what I could find and then made a bunch of my own decor!

The dinosaur tracks are cut out by hand... Talk about a labor of love!

Signs were also made by me although I did use the cricut to cut out the letters!

Cake was also hard to find... They were either babyish or incredibly exspensive so I made the cake too! I am actually really happy with how this one turned out!

Stockings

For the first year, we have stockings hung from the fireplace.

And, let me tell you, I have had a time convincing Caleb they are not, "Sockings."

Yesterday, I sat him down and explained they were stockings.

"ST...ST...ST...Stockings," I said.

And every time he looked at them I would repeat it.

Today, he checked to see if he had been good enough for Santa to come early.

As he shook all four of them, he looked at Georgia Kate and said, "Nope. Sorry. The ST...ST...ST...Stockings are empty."

Well, at least he isn't wearing them on his feet anymore... :)

Santa Video!

Thanks to Kacey for posting the personalized Santa Video!

My kids were so excited to see a video of Santa with pictures of them in it!

I entered all the information and ramped the kids up for Santa.

All was going great until it got to the part where Santa knows what Caleb wanted and the conversation went something like this...

Me: Caleb look! Santa knows you want a Spiderman Bicycle!

Caleb: No!

Me: Yes! A big boy Spiderman Bike!

Caleb: No! I want a Train table!

Fabulous!

Now I am torn between spending the next week anxious over whether he will forget the train table when he sees the bicycle or if I should go get a train table...

***Update***
Looks like Santa heard Caleb loud and clear and a train table will be the prize for good little boys and girls :)

Poor, neglected blog...

I have been meaning to update, but it's nearly impossible these days.

The kids are keeping me busy...

The house is on the market and must stay clean ...

It is nearly Christmas and I still feel ill prepared...

The kids have been sick for a while now.

Caleb spiked a fever last night so off to the doctor we went...

Both kids have a tragically bad sinus infections, bronchitis and a small possibility of pneumonia.

Caleb's has no fever in the morning, but it seems to spike at night.

If he's not better by the end of the week, we get to go back for a chest x-ray.

Until then, we are on a round of amoxicillian.

The good news is they gave us a nice long perscription so we can be all better by Christmas!

Christmas Decor on a Budget!

For the last several years, Adam and I have been on a pretty strict Christmas decoration budget.

Fortunately for me, my mother is as in love with Christmas decor as I am and has plenty to share.

However, I still like to have something new every year to add a little spice to the decor I have already used.

The next couple of days, I hope to have several posts up about easy, crafty, affordable, cute decorations that this year!

As most of you know, Mom and Dad bought a new house.

The previous owners were very crafty.

The lady even owned a kiln or two and taught ceramics classes out of her basement.

They left behind all kinds of wonderful things that are going to good homes.

I pulled this little jem out of their trash pile.

I brought him home and put him in my sewing cabinet and completely forgot about the poor guy until I needed some scraps.

He rolled out into the floor and my heart pitter-pattered!

I picked up some Krylon metallic spray paint at the store today and ran home to fix him.

I got the quick drying stuff so two coats and thirty minutes later, he was ready!

Now if were only time to put out Christmas decorations...

Pumpkin Faces

We played Mr. Potato Head with pumpkins Papaw bought us.

I got these little faces at Wal-mart last year. They have different themes and my kids really love them!

Georgia Kate picked out all of the pig pieces by herself!

And Caleb got to take pictures of them sitting on the mantle.

Imagination Movers

Last night, we were lucky enough to be able to see the Imagination Movers in concert!

I hadn't mentioned our tickets to the kids until yesterday morning so they wouldn't drive me nuts about getting to see the "Moomers".

It worked.

I popped in the Juice Box Heroes CD and told them we get to go see the Moomers tonight and they went CRAZY!

The excitement got to Caleb and he didn't nap.

Instead, he slept in the car on the way to the concert.

So, being the mother that I am, my children had to have Moomer attire!

So here is Caleb's shirt.

If I never have to applique another gear I will be just fine :)

I tried out the iron on t-shirt transfers for the back but I bought ones for light colored fabrics instead of dark fabric.. It didn't turn out horrbile but it wasn't as perfect as I would have liked :)

Halloween Dresses

I picked up this fabric a couple of weeks ago and decided to make a dress out of it.

I used Everyday Chaos's Apron Dress Tutorial and am totally in love with how they came out!

The girls couldn't stand the bows in front so I stuck them in back... I will have to find a new way to tie them so they don't flop :)

Adam's new job comes with LOTS of little perks...

You know, things like very important conferences in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Very important conferences you get to bring your wife to!

Our hotel room was simple but very nice!

Our balcony overlooked the parking lot although the hotel would swear it was an "island view!"

While Adam spent time in meetings and schmoozing, I spent time here...

I am fairly sure I got the better end of the deal!

Since it was out of season travel combined with the fact that it was a private beach, there were very few people.

We made a trip to Harbor Town and I wasn't impressed. The boats were neat but that was about it.

We didn't stay long.

We felt our time was better spent winning iphone chess on the beach :)

And this little guy was my absolute favorite part of the hotel.

I lovingly refer to this as the "Bird Bidet"

He just looks so happy!

I wasn't able to take pictures of all the fabulous times I had.

The lounging by the pool reading books that have been on my list for three years...

Enjoying dinner with delightful people...

and the ultimate massage in a cabanna overlooking the beach that my dear sweet husband insisted I have.

I told him coming home could not possibly be as fun and tried to talk him into shipping the kiddos to us, but he wouldn't go for it.

Little did he know, it would start raining on our trip home and has yet to stop.

Last weekend, I had the honor of being a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding.

Due to time constraints (and an anxious Groom) she only had a short time to plan.

Somehow, she pulled it off and had one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever seen!

The morning of the wedding, we all headed out and got our nails done.

By the time we got to the wedding site, we were all half asleep!

On a side note, can you tell it was a game day?

Amber had a hard time making a shoe decision for her bridesmaids, so she handed the task off to her (now) mother-in-law. By the time they get them picked out and dyed, it was time for the wedding.

We tried them on for the first time for the rehersal dinner.

For the most part, we underestimated our sizes.

And the dye had not completely dried.

We had shoe tatoos by the end of the night :)

After we finished pictures, we headed back upstairs to the bridal suite and played papparazzi while Amber and Brad finished up pictures.

My mom has been in need of a good laugh and usually I am pretty good about providing them.

I can find myself in some of the strangest situations so, I thought I would share them here.

Saturday, I was really wanting Kielbasa.

Adam was not.

I searched until I found a recipe that maintained the flavor but that Adam would also enjoy and set out to make it.

Everything was going great until I realized my recipe called for two cans of tomatoes and I only had one.

I grabbed the closest thing I had... A jar of spaghetti sauce.

A jar that I thought I had only recently opened.

I thought wrong.

As I twisted the cap off the jar, it exploded.

The lid blasted me in the chest.

Tomato sauce covered my face.

It was in my eyes.

It was in my hair.

It. was. everywhere.

Turns out I had missed a bottle last time I cleaned out the fridge and had two jars of spaghetti sauce...

one good...

one... not so much...

Then, this morning, I promised to take my aunt and cousin to the airport for an early flight.

It was still dark when I rang the doorbell.

As the door opened, a lizzard that had camped out behind it ran across my foot and into the house.

I jumped and screamed as it scampered down her hallway.

My aunt chased it, kicking it back toward the door.

She is in her seventies.

We were screaming and laughing and doing our best to get it out of the house without hurting it...

or ourselves.

After five minutes it scampered back out the door it came in.

Missing a tail and probably scared out of it's mind, it took off into the darkness.

The rest of the morning, we only had to look at eachother and giggle about the lizzard in the foyer.

Children's Museum

When Adam started his new job he had to spend a couple of weeks away from home while he was training.

The first week was really difficult for both myself and the kids.

So, I decided we would have a fun day on the day he came home.

We met up in Chattanooga for brunch at Cracker Barell

Then, it was off to the Museum...

Caleb loved popping them!

I'm not sure who is more curious....

We built an arch and it was all I could do to keep Caleb from knocking it down before we got a picture!

They build a cup tower every day...

She said this was the biggest one she had ever built and it was at least 8 feet tall

We were playing house when Caleb grabbed the grill a hot dog and a cup.

He sat there and sipped while his hot dog cooked...

It was hilarious!

We had such a wonderful time and spent four hours there and honestly, it flew by!

I would really recommend this to anyone with kiddos!

A Request

Just before we left for vacation, my grandmother tripped over a root and took a pretty hard fall.

This picture is after a ton of healing...

Seriously...

We got a call while on the cruise that she was in the hospital with an aneurysm.

Luckily, she is healing wonderfully.

Today, my grandfather fell.

He broke his hip severely.

So, if you don't mind, say a little prayer for my Nanny and Papaw tonight.

Thank you.

*********They called this morning and said that he will have to be in a skilled nursing home for 8-10 weeks (possibly more) for rehabilitation and he can not put any weight on it for at least 8. Please keep them in your prayers.*********

The World's Longest Yard Sale!

This year, I asked Angie to go with me!

She used to work with Adam and has taken over his old position.

We had such a great time laughing and goofing off that I didn't take a bunch of pictures...

It was a kid sized weinermoble!

I had been buying things all morning and Angie hadn't gotten anything!

So, when she found these shelves for Gracie's room, I had to get a picture!

(She also bought a dresser but I forgot to get a picture of it)

Who doesn't need a pink and purple zebra?

I would knock myself out if I had to work in the Giant Lemon Lemonade stand.

Ahhhh.... Gotta Love Tupperware!

Seriously, the prices on some of this was crazy!

Angie and her husband James just finished a bathroom makeover.

So, Angie picked up the perfect artwork to complete the rennovation!

As Angie headed home, I set out for Birmingham to meet up with Adam.

The GPS took me down 127 so I wound up with a lot of yard sale traffic.

I got behind this van with the fabulous, "HONKE YOUR HORN ONCE IF YOU LIKE YARD SALES"

bumper sticker.

He was happy to see me...

Or... at least I thought he was....

until you hit Tennessee and it looks like this!

On to the loot!

I got two sets of matching pillowcases so I can make Georgia Kate and Gracie matching dresses :)

Some vintage material that had been hand sewn into a sheet...

some more floral fabric... this is almost sateen like.

All of this vintage lace was in a gallon sized bag and was $5.00. I was beyond excited!

I also picked up this cool tool for $1.

It helps you keep your hems straight!

All in all it was a wonderful trip and we only made it about twelve miles down 127... Since I had to drive further on to get to Adam I found some more stops I will definately have to hit next year!

Ports of Call

This was a four day Carnival Cruise to Freeport and Nassau, Bahamas.

Freeport was really dull.

Because it isn't huge, the closest public beach is about 25 minutes away from the port.

Putting eight people in a taxi for 25 minutes is expensive so we got off, took pictures and got right back on board. I really don't think we missed anything.

Nassau was a totally different story.

We were able to go to the beach right outside the Atlantis hotel.

And let me tell you, it was beautiful.

Hot, but beautiful.

It was Georgia Kate's first trip to the beach and despite what the pictures say, she really enjoyed it.

The contrast between the blistering sand and the cool water has me making a lovely face, but Georgia Kate is loving it.

Tip~ When you want someone to take a picture of you and your daughter on their first beach trip be sure to specify zooming in as an option... Otherwise you will wonder who the people in all of your pictures are :)

Caleb really surprised me.

Normally he is afraid of getting his head wet.

The beach made him forget.

He would fall into the water and jump right back up and keep going like it never happened.

He has learned to cheesy smile so getting a decent picture is near impossible.

He had us all looking for shells so he could hide them again.

Georgia Kate slept through most of her first beach experience so I have very few pictures of her. :(

We knew he had a blast when he fell asleep while eating.

On the Boat

**** I aplogize for the lack of paragraphs. It doesn't matter how many times I try to seperate them, Blogger is refusing... Ugh****

This year's vacation was hectic to say the least.

Mom had surgery a week before, I was trying to plan for vacation, keep the house clean in case there happened to be a showing, and plan for Adam's surprise party.

Traveling with eight people is crazy enough on it's own.

Make two of those people children and you have to be uber-organized to pull it off.

I volunteered to get all the paperwork together and lucky for me, every thing went smoothly.

Can you tell I was relieved to actually be on the boat?

Even though this was nowhere near my first cruise, I still made some mistakes I will know to correct for the next time.

For those of you wondering, I did manage to pack all four of us into three carry on suitcases!

And, I still had room to spare :)

Unfortunately I checked those bags when we got on the ship so the kids didn't have swimsuits until they were delivered later that evening.

So, we played in the splash pad in our clothes :)

The kids were so excited that our room had a bunk bed! They loved to sit up there while we got ready!

Safety training is to be taken seriously...

These little guys are a huge part of the reason I cruise!

I love them!

And they make a new one every night!

This is Caleb's very first girlfriend, Clara.

We were eating lunch when she popped her head over the divider and it was love at first sight.

Caleb refused to eat anymore and could only be convinced to stop starring when bribed with chocolate milk.

Lucky for him, she was also quite enamored.

They played cats and dogs for the better part of an hour and were distraught when nap time rolled around and we had to go our seperate ways.

We didn't see Clara again until we were getting off the ship and ended up on the same elevator.

They held hands.

It was the sweetest!

This is my cousin Jarad.

It was his first cruise and I do believe he had a pretty good time!

Bryant, my brother, spent most of his time chasing girls with Jarad.

Caleb's skills in the lady department put them both to shame :)

A Total Surprise!

Friday afternoon, Adam got his new truck!

He had no idea it was coming in and, let me tell you, he could not have been more excited.

It is a 2009 GMC Sierra. Extended cab.

When he got it, it had just under 400 miles on it and they had driven it to him from Nashville.

It was brand spankin' new.

So, his weekend started off with a fabulous surprise and ended with a fabulous surprise...

A surprise party, that is.

Since Sunday (7/26) was his birthday and he was getting ready to start his new job, I felt a celebration was in order.

The pineapple fruit tree was a huge hit!

It looks more wonkey here than it actually was...

It was nearly impossible to get him out of the house and keep him out of the house the day before we left for vacation, but somehow, Dad pulled it off.

And, he had no idea what was going on...

It was great!

We will definately do it again sometime!

Little Girls Have All The Fun!

When I found out I was expecting a little girl, I was beyond thrilled.

I dreamed of the days where she would demand to wear her princess dress while we shopped without any fussing.

She would let me fix her hair in cute little girl ways and she would love jewelry.

Instead, this is what she wants.

She picked out what she wanted to wear and it was not a battle I was willing to fight.

The only way to get her to keep a hairbow in is to let her pick the one she wants to wear.

And what is more thrilling than wearing one of each of your brother's favorite shoes?

With all the craziness going on around here, I nearly forgot about the World's Longest Yard Sale!

August 6-9, it runs from Ohio to Alabama!

That is a LOT of yard sales!

I had such a great time last year and this year it looks bigger and better!

I spent the majority of my Saturday in Crossville last year and didn't even scratch the surface!

They have tons of beautiful furniture and all kinds of crazy kitch collections!

You are sure to find something!

And, in case you are interested, HGTV is casting for their yard sale competition right now!

Since Adam had a long weekend, we took full advantage of the time fixing up the house.

Hopefully, we can get it finished and on the market by next week!

Friday morning, I pressure washed the house and driveway while Adam fixed up our front flower box.

Saturday, we chose to work indoors.

We were going to put away the cars stickers but he had such a hard time with all the changes around here, I gave in.

We also painted the hallway and touched up several places around the house.

We were invited to several places for food and fireworks but we were just too tired to go.

So, we found ourselves at Walmart getting a pizza, ice cream and a couple of redbox movies.

We found this lovely cake and absolutely could not understand why no one would buy it.

I mean come on.. who wouldn't want a mokey cake that looks like dog poop?

We laughed until everyone in the store was convinced we had already been drinking and we hadn't touched a drop.

perhaps it was the enclosed house and paint fumes...

Today, I get to continue decluttering and painting all the trim a nice flat white.

Some fingerprints are easier to paint than to clean :)

Our real estate agent comes Thursday!

Lets hope I can keep it together until then :)

Home Again, Home Again

Monday night, Adam had dinner with his new boss and some co-workers to discuss things that need to get done between now and August.

They discussed things like company cars and benefits and office space.

They told him they would rent an office for him for six months.

When the six months was up, we needed to be in a house with an office.

So, we are house hunting.

Seriously.

We had been talking about it for about a year now.

Where would we move? What kind of house do we want?

So, we are going to spend our holiday weekend fixing our house up so we can get it on the market.

When it sells, we can look for our new house!

I have already had two I love yanked out from under me so there will be no looking until we have a contract on this one.

I get giddy when I think about spending Christmas in a new house!

I Can Barely Hold My Eyes Open

I am exhausted.

I spent the last two weeks freaking out about Adam's possibilities of getting the job.

I couldn't eat.

I couldn't sleep.

I spent hours pacing around, waiting for a phone call.

I even managed to lose a little weight!

Wednesday, after he had officially been offered the job I was able to relax.

I slept so hard, I woke up in the same position I had fallen asleep in.

And I was sore.

I have slept the same way every night since.

Relief is a wonderful thing.

As soon as I recovered from my stress hangover, I had to start another project.

My best friend is getting married.

She is definately a high end girl with a not so high end budget.

Not to mention a short time line!

So, she asked me to work on her invitaitons.

I made 4 versions for her to choose from.

Then, I tweaked the version they chose in 13 different ways and am waiting on the final verdict.

Then it is on to making the RSVP cards and other paper needs for the wedding.

I haven been so tired I haven't even touched my sewing machine!
And that is something I definately have to fix!
I miss it!

Some of my readers will remeber that in January, Adam did a preliminary interview for his dream job.

He went back for a follow up a couple of weeks ago.

On Wednesday, he was officially offered the job!

We honestly cannot be more thrilled!

It will be a lot of traveling for a while and that will be hard on myself and the kids.

However, it is a chance to put us in a very secure place and it is a job Adam will love!

The difference in Adam was immediate.

He has smiled and laughed and relaxed all weekend.

(Something he hasn't done in quite some time!)

He was just happy!

He will start work in August.

Last night, we went to his very first company event.

A retirement party for a man I have known for years.

It was quite lovely!

But it turned out to be a bit more business than anything.

So, Mom and I snuck away for a few minutes.

I am not sure how I managed to go all night without getting a picture of myself with Adam.

But, Congratulations baby!

A Present For Daddy

Asside from being my little twin,

she is quickly becoming a picky eater...

We had grilled cheese, with peanut butter crackers and watermelon for lunch.

And like a girl after my own heart, ate the cheese out of the sandwich and licked the peanut butter off the crackers. Leaving nothing but carbs in her trail :)

There is no denying she is her Momma's child and I could not be more proud.

This weekend has been crazy.

Thursday, as I was getting ready to head out for my birthday dinner, I was nearly attacked by a dog.

A pit bull to be exact.

It was on my front porch, waiting.

I barely managed to close the door before it made it in the house.

I ended up with a huge bruise and was pretty sore, but overall just fine.

Animal control picked him up about an hour later.

It was too late to go out for dinner so my family brought over sandwiches!

Friday, we started out by making Caleb's birthday cake!

Caleb managed to dig into half of it before it got finished so I had to fix that.

Oh! The Fun I Had!

The concert was quite an experience.
It was a wonderful birthday present!

Mom and I headed out early for dinner at PF Changs.

It was incredibly busy, so we opted to sit at the bar.

We giggled at the cute bartender and then directed our attention to our menus.

Next thing we knew, the bartender was at our side, introducing himself and asking for our order.

Mom nearly fell off her chair.

That gave me the giggles and couldn't understand a word he was saying.

Our dinner was delicious once we stopped laughing long enough to eat it!

Then, it was on to the concert.

It was open seating so I picked our seats on the second row...

right in front of the speakers.

The opening act was "Crowding Fifty".

They were actually pretty good.

I had to go to the restroom so I ran up a flight of stairs.

Not really paying attention, I ran into the mens bathroom.

After getting some strange looks I ran back out, laughing hysterically once again.

At intermission we tortured the couple who made the mistake of sitting in front of us by making funny faces every time they tried to take a picture of themselves.

This, of course had us in hysterics again.

When the concert picked back up we we having a ball.

We sang, we danced we laughed.

Mom dropped a note off to the event staff and it made it all the way to Joe.

He read it out loud and wished me a Happy Birthday and told me to demand more.. I was worth it!

After the show I hung around until his keyboard player invited me up on stage!

And then his bass player...

and his son, Parker!

Parker is going to be big soon.

Great voice and really knows how to put on a show.

As we headed back to the car, Mom showed me this...

She took Joe Diffie's water...

right off the stage.

I was laughing again!

Peanut Butter Bars

The kids love it when I make Peanut Butter Bars!

Not only do they get to help Mommy bake, but they get to sit on the stool and eat Peanut Butter Spoons!

Peanut Butter Bar Recipe

1/2 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 egg

1/3 cup peanut butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup rolled oats

raisins to suit
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, 1/3 cup peanut butter and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; stir into the peanut butter mixture. Finally, mix in the rolled oats and raisins. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are firm. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips in a single layer over the top. Let stand for 5 minutes, then spread to cover. Allow to cool.

I always stop here and they are delicious!

However, the recipes calls for a Peanut Butter Icing...

1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

1/4 cup peanut butter

3 tablespoons of milk

In a small bowl, mix together the confectioners' sugar, 1/4 cup peanut butter until smooth. Stir in milk one tablespoon at a time until a drizzling consistency is reached. Drizzle over bars when cool. Cut into bars.

Honestly, delicious!

We ventured out early Saturday morning.

I was so excited, I could barely contain myself.

Sadly, I was disappointed.

There wasn't anything for the kids to do that didn't have an awful line.

Caleb found a tractor right away... We could have seen nothing else and he would have been happy :)

I'm Still Here...

I know I have been a little lax on posting, but I have been busy!

June is known as birthday month around here.

My birthday is the 11th, Caleb's the 12th.

Mom and Dad's anniversary on the 19th.

Bryant's birthday on the 24th.

Then you add in Father's Day and it's Fourth of July before we know it.
It snuck up on me.

I hadn't even started planning.

So, I spent the week making invitations.

Deciding on decor and favors.

Arguing with Caleb about how old he is.

I say three, he swears five.

I am starting to believe him.

I forgot my camera this weekend.

Fortunately, Mom let me borrow hers.

I have tons of pictures and several cute stories, but Mom formatted her SD card so that it is only readable by her camera and a certain card reader.

A card reader I do not have.

So, I will post a Memorial Day recap as soon as I figure out a way to get around her security :)

In other news, this weeked is MOO-FEST!

I can't even describe to you how much I love Mayfield ice cream.

When we lived in Arizonia I desperately missed it.

It just wasn't the same wondering into the ice cream aisle and not seeing the huge yellow cartons.

We didn't go to Moo-Fest last year but you can't keep me away this year!

Tutorial Tuesday~ Fabric Magnets!

If you are like me, you get a ton of these calendar magnets in the mail.

They aren't the most atttractive designs, but they are good magnets so why not make them cute?

First, I put spray glued on some interfacing because my magnets have been put through the ringer.

If you don't need interfacing but do neet to cover the images, try some spray paint.

Trace the magnet onto your fabric and cut just outside your mark...

Spray glue your magnet and quickly put your fabric on it!

To keep the edges from fraying, most people would use Fray Check.

I don't have any.

I improvised with clear nail polish and it worked like a charm.

Simply dab the edges.

Don't have any ugly magnets?

You can buy business card sized ones at most Walmarts!

Don't want any more magnets?

Do your mousepad!

Not a fabric person?

This would also work with Modge Podge and scrapbook paper!

Friday, Caleb had a wonderful time modeling Mommy's headbands!

Didn't he do a lovely job?

Saturday, we headed out to the Bloomin BBQ and Bluegrass festival with James, Angie and Gracie!

Caleb loved being the Big Boy, Georgia Kate loved sitting in the Big Kid seat and Gracie wasn't quite sure how to take it all...

I promise Caleb wanted to go see the pig but when we got to him, this was all the excitement he could muster...

Gracie really enjoyed the ribs while Georgia Kate stuck to her tried and true sweet tea!

We played with lots of fun new things!

Miss Gracie even tried to hula hoop!

Caleb enjoyed some hot dog....

And Georgia Kate chowed down on my grilled corn!

Heavenly Headbands!

Since I cut my bangs, I have been in need of a way to pull my hair back.

I also wanted lots of options and I wanted them to come cheap.

So, I decided to make my own.

I used The Long Thread's pattern, but made mine a little different than she did.

Here is my Reversible Heavenly Headband

You will need:
Pattern
Two scrap pieces of material twice the length of the pattern.
3/4 elastic
Fabric scissors
Sewing Machine
Iron

Place pattern on folded fabric.

Cut.

Repeat for other piece of fabric.

With right sides together, stitch around edge 1/4 inch, leaving both ends open.

Turn right side out.

Iron flat.

Turn raw edges under about 1/4 of an inch.

Slide in one end of elastic about 1/4 of an inch.

Stich in place.

Now here is the really scientific part.

Wrap the headband around your head and cut your elastic where it meets the other side.

Stick in about a 1/4 inch and stich in place.

Admire your work and clip strings.

Try it on and take cute pictures.

Then get to work making more!

I made all of these in about 45 minutes.

Yup. I cut my bangs.

All because I wanted to look cute in a headband.

And they look horrible!

Seriously....

I stood outside trying to take a decent picture of a bad haircut.

Impossible.

Luckily, if I pull some of them back and stick in a pin, I don't look like I am missing half a mullet.

Storm Fork!

I mentioned that Adam took a couple of days off last week.

Unfortunately, it was during a week of almost non-stop rain.

I went from having two kids to having three.

It was quite stormy Friday morning and Caleb needed a distraction.

Daddy to the rescue!

Mother's Day

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! I know I did!

We started the day by going to breakfast with my family. IHOP is Sunday traditioin aroud here.

I made a quick trip to JoAnns with Mom before she had to head out to see her Mom.

It totally slipped my mind to take any pictures....

We headed over to Jack and Phyllis's and had a wonderful lunch.

She was so sweet.

She got me a Dahlia and one of the new slim wallets.

Very nice! Thanks again!

A few weeks ago she said in not so suddle terms that she wanted an apron.

So, I made her one.

Again, I didn't get any before pictures, but I did get some of her opening it!
Ignore the fact that my children have no clothes on... We had Ziti for lunch and they had on nice clothes :)

I also made her some Diva Gloves to match her apron.

It was all I could do to keep Caleb from ruining them all week!

He loved the gloves!

I hate that these turned out so blurry!

Adam was also sweet enough to order the most delicious ice cream cake

And he snuck the kids out Saturday and helped them make me Mother's Day Butterflies!

Needless to say, I was thrilled!

The Things Kids Say....

Adam surprised me by taking yesterday and today off of work.

The last time he has had consecutive days off was our honeymoon... in 2006.

Jack, Adam's dad. also had today off.

Adam called to see if he could go over for a few minutes.

Caleb whined and whined until Adam handed him the phone.

He jabbered for a few minutes saying nothing understandable.

He paced back and forth across the living room randomly babbling.

Then, out of the blue, he said, "My mommy needs to vacuum."

Perfectly clear.

Over and Over and Over again.

Hairbow Holder!

Since there are so many cute hairbow tutorials floating around, I have run out of room to store them.

And, I really hate digging through the basket we currently use trying to find a matching set for pigtails!

So, I made a hairbow holder.

And I got lucky!

I found this picture frame/memo board at Goodwill.
It had been $9.
But, I bought it on half price weekend, so it was $4.50!

I ripped the horrible cheetah ribbon and equally as bad fabric and added some that I picked up at a super warehouse sale!

Home Decor for $6.78 a yard.

I bought a full yard, but I have plenty left over!

I will paint the frame when I make it to the store for some spray paint!

Since Georgia Kate is sleeping, I couldn't grab bows out of her room.

Weekend Whirlwind!

What a weekend!

I can officially say that I am exhausted.

I can't even begin to imagine how tired Adam is.

Friday, we had a clog in our kitchen sink.

We tried several methods of removing the clog nothing worked.

Dad came over to lend us a hand and brought the coolest gadget with him.

It is a Drain Cleaning Bladder.
You attach it to your garden hose and put it in the pipe.
The bladder swells up and then pushes water out putting pressure on the clog.
It has no choice but to unclog.
Most of the time anyway...
Our clog was after our vent and our bladder was before it.
We ended up shooting water out the top of our house.
Genius I am telling you.
The real intelligent part was that we didn't figure out it wasn't working until it we shut the water off and it all flushed out onto the kitchen floor.

Saturday, I drug Adam to an Anique fair.
I had a great time although I am sure I can't say the same for him.
I did manage to find some gorgeous antique buttons!

Sunday, we picked up a cabinet for my sewing supplies.
My hobby is taking over my house and driving us all nuts!
All the fabric I got last week had no home and that had to be fixed.
Can you see Caleb?

Oh wait... There he is!

It feels great to have it all in semi order!

It has allowed me to be very crafty today, but more on that tomorrow!

Hello Handyman!

As you know, Georgia Kate was up early yesterday morning.

Normally, I put her back to bed for an early nap, but I avoided it so that she would take a really good afternoon nap.

I was loading the dishwasher when someone knocked on the door.

I peek out to see our "handyman."

We had talked to him about doing a small job in the bathroom over the weekend and he just happened to end up free.

No notice.

I had yet to shower and was still in my pajamas.

"Come on in, I'm a mess." I said sheepishly.

He laughed and followed me into the house.

He looked at me a little strange but I assumed it was because I had on an orange shirt and bright pink shorts.

"So, no one is planning on using the shower for the next five hours are they?"

Thinking of my hair, pulled up and knotted on the back of my head, frizzies everywhere I told him that I had planned on it.

Luckily, one of the colors he got was too dark so he had to run back to the store.

I jumped at my chance to shower!

It wasn't until I grabbed my towel off the hook that I noticed my shirt was on inside out and backwards.

I'm sure he thinks I am a complete genius totally capable of caring for two children...

I'm Awake!

Georgia Kate woke up sometime around 3:30 this morning.

Blurry eyed, I carried her to the couch and tried to coax her back to sleep.

She wasn't having it.

Before I knew it, she was squealing for crackers.

I set her in the highchair and pour the Cheerios out for her.

She ate all of those before we moved onto Graham Crackers.

While she ate, I sat there struggling to hold my eyes open.

It didn't work.

When Adam came through the living room to leave for work, there we were.

Me, asleep on the couch.

Georgia Kate, still in the highchair, Graham Cracker in hand, asleep.

Finding breakfast, he woke up Georgia Kate.

He got her out of the chair and held her so I could grab a few more minutes of sleep.

As he went to sit down, he stepped on one of Georgia Kate's favorite books.

The small book has a squeaky toy in the middle and it is not a quiet SQUEAK.

To the sleeping person, it seems to echo through the house.
So much for a few more minutes of sleep!

Fishing and Destruction!

Friday, we went fishing with Dad!

It was so much fun!

Georgia Kate did really well on the boat!

The sun was really bright and my fair skinned baby was turning red a few shorts minutes in.

We put the canopy up and set up the Pack-N-Play.

Some crackers and a juice box later...

Caleb also did a lot better than I expected!

He loved getting the minows for us and was really excited when he caught a fish!

Caleb is such a good big brother.

He even shared his JUICE!

Or, at least I thought...

He was actually just blowing air into the package and then pretending to give her a drink...

She didn't find that funny.

He did!

When we got home, Adam decided to knock down the shed in our back yard.

It was in horrible shape and was such an eye sore.

He knocked it down with a sledge hammer and loaded up the pieces to take to the dump.

Unfortunately, the dump has odd hours so we didn't get all the rock hauled off.

The majority is gone and we should only have one truck load left this weekend!

Now to figure out what to do with the new space!
